Large Open Hay Barn

this barn is located on the far south of the property inside pasture 6.  It’s completely open and perfect for creating another 6-8 stall barn or storing equipment and hay.

The pastures at Santa Margarita have been customized to suit a program with all different aged horses.  Majority of the pastures have no-nose contact spaces so they can be used to pasture colts or fillies.  The majority of the fencing consists of pipe and cable and or no-climb fencing.  Some 5-string smooth plus electric line fencing exists on the interior of the ranch.  

  1. P1 with 15.4 acres of routinely fertilized pasture. Improved from mixed weed population to grazeable species 2016-present. North portion of pasture facing neighbor’s is all no-climb fence built in 2018.  Interior fences are pipe and 3 string smooth plus electric line.  All-Tex concrete waterer.

  2. P2 with 10.23 acres of routinely fertilized pasture.  2019 disced pasture and seeded Cajun II fescue to improve winter grazing options.  Great fescue stand November-January/March-May with enough precipitation.  Pasture also features a new loafing shed (built 2022) complete with trough hay feeder that can be loaded by tractor (plenty of clearance). North portion of pasture facing neighbor’s is all no-climb fence built in 2018. All-Tex concrete waterer.

  3. P3a with 2.5 acres. This small paddock has been historically used for yearling colts.  It is separate from all other pastures so a great place to wean and or quarantine horses as needed. All-Tex concrete waterer.

  4. M- with 1.1 acres. A great lot for holding mares during breeding season. All-Tex concrete 

  5. P3b with 1.9 acres. Holding lot for mares and/or weanlings.  All-Tex concrete waterer.

  6. P3c with 1.4 acres. Holding lot for mares and/or weanlings. All-Tex concrete waterer.

  7. P4 with 2.3 acres.  This pasture was customized and built outside the main house as a rotation pasture for mares. All-Tex concrete waterer.

  8. P5 east – 22.5 acres. Sectioned piece in larger 66 acre pasture. Perimeter is pipe and cable while interior fencing is 5-string smooth wire with a single electric line on interior to keep horses/cows off fence.  Seeded to perennial cool season grasses and forage. All-Tex concrete waterer.

  9. P5 west- 14.9 acres. Sectioned piece in larger 66 acre pasture. Perimeter is pipe and cable while interior fencing is 5-string smooth wire with a single electric line on interior to keep horses/cows off fence. Seeded to perennial cool season grasses and forage. All-Tex concrete waterer.

  10. P6 east- 14.4 acres. Sectioned piece in larger 66 acre pasture. Perimeter is pipe and cable while interior fencing is 5-string smooth wire with a single electric line on interior to keep horses/cows off fence. Bermuda grass throughout. All-Tex concrete waterer.

  11. P6 west- 14.7 acres. Sectioned piece in larger 66 acre pasture. Perimeter is pipe and cable while interior fencing is 5-string smooth wire with a single electric line on interior to keep horses/cows off fence. Bermuda grass throughout.  All-Tex concrete waterer.

  12. P7 – 9.6 acres. This lot is located on the farthest west portion of the property.  The pasture has a reconstructed creek bed designed to move water efficiently out of the pasture and a great stand of mature trees providing ample shade for livestock.  This pasture is a great option for weaning yearling colts since it is isolated from rest of ranch. All-Tex concrete waterer.

Just outside the 6-stall barn and next to the main house there are two beautiful over-sized stud turnouts that could also be used for turning out mares and foals. All-Tex concrete waterer in both turnouts.

Other Info

FEMA flood plan insurance maps dated January 2008 indicate that the property is not within a flood hazard area.  Any potential buyer should obviously rely on an updated survey to determine final designation.
